Miami was coming off an unbeaten four-game homestand but plays seven of its final 12 games on the road, where it is 9-25. The Heat snapped a three-game road losing streak and moved one game ahead of seventh-place New York in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
"I just came out attacking from the start," Wade said. "I came out aggressive, going to the basket, and it just continued through the game. We are coming together at the right time."
The Wizards had a 25-17 lead after the first quarter, but the Heat closed the second period with a 20-7 run to move in front at halftime, 49-40.
"Our guys do understand that they've got to do it with their defense," Miami coach Stan Van Gundy said. "In the last six minutes of the second and the whole third quarter, we were great defensively."
Miami used a 27-9 burst in the third quarter to pull away, extending its advantage to 76-51 with 2:43 remaining. Eddie Jones scored 10 of his 16 points during the run.
"We knew coming in that we have to get some road wins," Jones said. "Six out of our next eight are going to be on the road. It's about coming in, battling it out and finishing games."
"Eddie, Lamar (Odom) and myself, we know it's that time of the year when you need everybody," Wade added. "You can't just have three guys trying to score 20 a night, you have to have a whole team. Everybody in this locker room realizes that."
Steve Blake scored a career-high 21 points but could not help the Wizards overcome 25 turnovers. Larry Hughes returned after missing 19 games with a fractured left wrist but made only 3-of-14 shots and had eight points in 27 minutes for Washington.
"I feel things coming around," Hughes said. "We wanted to come out strong and be aggressive, things just didn't click. I didn't want to force things. I took shots within the offense, I just didn't put them in the hole."
Gilbert Arenas played 22 scoreless minutes before leaving in the third quarter with a sprained right ankle. X-rays were negative and the Wizards guard is listed as day-to-day.
