Top Plays Ladder

The NBA.com Top Plays Ladder is a free-flowing, constantly updated chart that ranks the best plays of 2010-11. When a play happens that brings you to your feet, check here to see how it ranks.

Can't Hardly Wait ...

Dec. 1 -- After a long wait, we have a season to look forward to and we here at the Top Plays Ladder could not be happier.

Hard to believe, but it has been nearly six months since the Dallas Mavericks claimed their first NBA title in a memorable Finals showdown with the Miami Heat. If you forgot about the best plays from that series, you'll find them below for your handy reference. Or, if the whole 2010-11 season seems like a blur, that's up above, too.

But don't spend too much time looking back ... there's more than enough to look forward to when it comes to the looming 2011-12 season. Which big names (like Nene, David West and others) will switch locales -- if at all? Will any All-Star players (like Chris Paul, Dwight Howard or Rajon Rondo) switch addresses before 2011-12 tips off? Who has the most to prove this season? The sheer thought of it all (and the plays these guys will pull off) makes us nearly giddy with anicipation.

While you ponder those thoughts and more, here are the best plays from last season's playoffs and the top 10 plays from 2010-11 to whet your appetite.

Where Tyreke Happens : Dec. 29, 2010

Words can't really do Tyreke Evans' shot justice. Down two points with no time left, the Kings guard heaves a prayer from midcourt and swishes it in for the improbable buzzer-beating victory. Amazing.

2
Come Fly With Me, Timofey : Nov. 20, 2010
thumb

Blake Griffin is dunking over just about anyone he can find, including his fellow rookies. The Knicks' Timofey Mozgov is perhaps his most famous victim this season as Griffin dunks the ball without touching the rim.

3
The Rose Rejection : April 4, 2011

An MVP not only makes his teammates better, but also provides an energy boost on a rough night. D-Rose definitely does the latter with this superb swat of ex-teammate James Johnson.

Wade's Indy Flick : Feb. 15, 2011

Dwyane Wade went for 41 and tied a Heat record with 31 first-half points against the Pacers. Yet the thing that'll live longer than his scoring is his 92-foot alley-oop pass to LeBron James.

5
J.R. Takes Flight : Dec. 16, 2010

We try not to step on the toes of the Dunk Ladder and its guru, LeMont Calloway, when it comes to making additions to the Top Plays Ladder. But sometimes a dunk is so awesome, it deserves to be in two places at once. Such is the case with J.R. Smith's insta-poster jam on the Spurs' Gary Neal.

Rose Delivery Service : Feb. 28, 2011

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Must be true because days after Rose made Video his between-the-legs dish to big man Joakim Noah for a dunk, the Knicks' Chauncey Billups had Video a similar-type pass to big man Amar'e Stoudemire for a layup.

7
Call Him Mr. 360 : Feb. 26, 2011

OK, Nick, now you're just showing off. First, he made Video this 360 layup on the Lakers. Then, he had Video this 360 against the Nuggets. Now, he's made perhaps his (and the season's) best 360 layup to date.

8
Some One-Upsmanship : March 24, 2011

Emeka Okafor's shot against the Jazz that sent the game into OT won't overtake Video Tyreke Evans' heave as the season's top play. But it did overtake a great circus shot from the same game: Video this one from Paul Millsap.

9
A Real Stat-Stuffer : March 23, 2011
thumb

Hard to argue with JaVale McGee's block/steal of Wesley Matthews as the season's top at-the-rim denial of the season. But is it the best block in Wizards history? Lest we forget, Michael Jordan had this two-hander on the Bulls way back when during his D.C. days.

10
Behind-the-Back Madness : Jan. 14, 2011
thumb

What's better than one behind-the-back pass? Try two of them on the same play. Earl Watson and Andrei Kirilenko show their court sense and reward the man who helped make the whole passing fancy possible: Ronnie Price.
